Lecture 4:
Week 4 (23/4/2019):

Before starting the class, Mr Martin gave a link address of a game while waiting for Mr Jefferey to come. The game was for us to practice our pen tool skills.
A link to the game:
https://bezier.method.ac/
It's a good game for us to practice and fun too, I also learn some new shortcut keys from it.

Change textures and hybrid animals
Stamp / Clone Stamping / Brush / Healing Brush / Spot Healing Brush / Mixing Brush
You will interchange the characteristics of a minimum of two animals. This could be a change of materials, swap of stripes or textures. You may go beyond and create a hybrid animal and include a third or even fourth characteristics (for example using a fruit texture to replace an animal’s skin). Google “Birds arms”.

Week 5 (30/4/2019): No lecture

EXERCISE

Week 1
Exercise 1: Hearst mansion

Instruction:
Using your own photo, "Photoshop" yourself into Hearst Mansion, use the technique learnt in class to make the recomposed photo believable.

Fig. 1.1: Subject
Fig. 1.2: Heart Mansion
Fig. 1.3: Final
I put myself in the corner beside the window. I made myself tiny because of my height.

Week 2
Exercise 2: Ghost House
Fig. 1.1: House 1
Fig. 1.2: Night
Fig. 1.3: Ghost Bride
Fig. 2: Finish
Using the magic wand and cropping it then paste it. To make the glow we use the gradient tool. After that, they gave us another exercise.

Sky replacement exercises
Fig. 1.1: House 2
Fig. 1.2: Sunset Background
Fig. 1.3: Sky Background
These are some pictures that I found on Google.

Exercise 2:
Fig. 2.1: Exercise 2a
I cropped the house and move it to the picture with the sky (Fig. 1.3).
Fig. 2.2: Exercise 2b
I put the house on the island and made the colour of the house same as the background (Fig. 1.2).

Week 3
Exercise 3: Recolouring
Fig. 1: Black & White Portrait
This is the black and white photo that we had to re-colour using the brush tool, musking tool and blending modes.
Fig. 2.1: Exercise 3a
This is the re-colour version I did and he looks fabulous.
I use the brush tool to colour the photo to the colours that I like and adjusted them with hue/saturation. Then, use the blending modes.

Fig. 2.2: Exercise 3b
The second exercise is that we had to take a black and white photo that we had or we can get it from the internet.
I chose a photo that was taken from a school trip for street photography. The photo was over expose and had a lot of things going on but I want to colour it anyway. One of my friend is in the picture, it's the girl in the photo.

Week 4
Exercise 4: Changing One's Stripes
Fig. 1.1: Snake Skin Texture
+
Fig. 1.2: Black & White Photo of a person
=
Fig.2.1: Snake Man (Exercise 4a)
Using the snake texture we combine it with the person and it made him into a scaly cold-blooded creature.

Fig. 1.3: Flag
+
Fig. 1.4: Fabric
=
Fig.2.2: Flag image on fabric (Exercise 4b)
We made the flag looked like it was embroidered into the fabric.

Fig. 2.3: Failed Attempt

Fig. 2.5: Final Attempt (Exercise 4c)
These are exercise 4c the first picture is a failed one because the feathers are unnatural and I decided to change it.
I change the picture of the fox and feathers. I used a close-up picture of a fox and round feathers.

Week 5
Exercise 5: Castle of Pyrenees
1. Recreating a masterpiece
2. Use your own texture and generated images
3. HD Portrait (1080 x 1920 @ 72 dpi)

Fig. 1: Castle of Pyrenees
We had to recreate this image using our knowledge through the weeks we learnt.
Fig. 2.1: Castle
Fig. 2.2: Rock
Fig. 2.3: Sunset Background 1
Fig. 3: First Attempt
I cropped the house from Fig. 1.1 and the rock from Fig. 1.2 then put it on a background and also added some birds.
Fig. 4.1: Sunset Background 2
Fig. 4.2: Sunset Clouds
I decided to change the background and added some cloud to look like it's a bit further.
Fig. 5: Final

FEEDBACK

Week 1: No feedback

Week 2: No Feedback

Week 3: Mr Jeffrey thought that the stain on the sign is distracting him but I can't do a thing as it is already in the image and Mr Martin agree with me. Then, said it is fine.

Week 4: Mr Martin said that Fig. 2.5 is better than the last one. It looked more natural.

Week 5: For Fig. 1, Mr Martin said that it doesn't looked believable because of the lighting and that the rock doesn't have a support to look likes it's floating. He advice me to either change the background or the castle.
