LECTURE NOTES
Lecture 1
6/1/2020
6/1/2020
On the first day, we were welcomed back by the lecturers. We were then given a brief of the module outline and the field trip. After that, we were split into groups and since there were a few people going to Bangkok, we have no problem forming groups as most of my classmates are going to Japan and are in a large group. After forming groups, we were given a lecture by Mr Charles about the final project. Our theme this semester is "Mythology".
Lecture 2
13/1/2020
Ms Jinchi gave us a lecture about culture to us.
What is culture? Food, people, dances, celebration or etc...
It is all of it. Culture refers to the cumulative deposit of knowledge, experience, beliefs, attitudes, meanings, hierarchies and etc...
It also refers to symbols, heroes and rituals.
Symbols - words, gestures, pictures,or something that can only be recognized by those who share a particular culture.
Heroes - A person from the past/present. They could be real or fiction. They possess characteristics that are highly prized in a culture role model.
Rituals - Collective activities.

- Look and feel: What is the video going to look like, image it in your head, the colour, feeling and type of of shots.
- Treatment: How are you going to treat the shot of the outcome visually such as transitions, is it story driven, mixed animation, interview, vlog?
- Reference: learn from someone you admire, what hook you to keep watching it, was it transition? the way they talk or etc...

INSTRUCTION
Project 1
Week 1
6/1/2020
We each do some researches on some myths and legends on Thailand. Shazleena found some interesting subject about the number "9" and the 7 colours of Thailand while Baahy found an article about Thailand is the "Land of Smile". I found that Thailand is religious and they practice Buddhism.
This is the article that I found on Buddhism in Thailand. I found it interesting because every men are required to become a monk for a period of time before they become the age of 20.
9/1/2020
After discussing with Ms Jinchi on Thursday, we all agreed with the 7 colours because we all thought that it is interesting to research on. We all put our findings in Google Docs and find more information on it.
Week 2
13/1/2020
After some thinking, we got stuck on how to proceed with colours as colours are diverse. At first, we wanted to know why the Thai follows them and if they don't follow it, would there be consequences. After a while our teammate, Baahy found an interesting doll, which is called the Luk Thep also know as Child Angel. The Luk Thep is doll that is spiritually possessed doll that can bring good luck to the person who taken good care of it.
The Thais take good care of the doll and even feed it, bath it, and even buy a seat on a plane for the doll to have their own seating. So we go with the doll.
16/1/2020
After that we showed Ms Jinchi our first draft of our slides. In the slides, Ms Jinchi asked us to rephrase some words on our problem statement and research question and also add another research question. For our final product, Ms Jinchi advised us to think about the adaptation of Thai. They took a Western doll and adapt it in Thai culture, also on merging and emerging. It can be anything but have to be related to our research question.
We have to restructure our problem statement and research question. Problem statement should also include further explanation of Thai belief, practice and such, also include pictures. Slides should not be to "wordy".
Week 3
20/1/2020
We meet Ms Jinchi at 2:00 p.m. and met her groups by groups. We gave our second draft to Ms Jinchi and told us that our problem statement and research questions are good but our slides for presentation have too much words. So, we have to cut it short, it is fine to have it in the standardize proposal.
For our ideas for our final product, we have a lot. I have 3 ideas which one of it is a portrait of the Thailand Flag. The Flag is made out of clay sculptures of the Thai people and the dolls. The sculptures are happy, smiling and taking care of the dolls.
My second idea is a paper-cut out. I have 2 variations of it. The first is a paper portrait of the Thai people and the dolls. For now, I have 3 sketches.
The second variation is cutting out a drawing/picture of a doll and taking a picture of it in front of the city of Thailand.
I got the inspired from this on the Internet.

Submission on proposal.
Standardize Proposal:
Week 4
30/1/2020
Presentation slides:
Feedback:
Ms Jinchi that our ideation 1 and 2 are not grounded with enough symbolism of the appearance of the doll. So it does not relate to our research questions. However, ideation 3 and 4 are better because it has symbolism of the object, which was the doll. Ms Jinchi also asked us about the beliefs of religions. Is it to dedicate ourselves to be more responsible? for discipline? to be more aware?

REFLECTION
Experiences:
I experienced that working with a group is very exciting yet nerve wracking because I am still not used to be in a group. However, it is an opportunity to get to know new people as the group have other courses from Architecture and Mass Communication.
Observations:
I observed that Thai have many unique myths and superstitions. Their myths and superstitions are very similar to the Chinese myths and superstitions such as the Thai's lucky number which is "9" and the Chinese lucky number which is "8". The pronunciation of 'Ba' in Chinese, it sounds similar to the word 'Fa', which means to make a fortune.
Findings:
I found that myths are very interesting. It has past down from generation to generation until today it is still alive but it is fading as the modern society is evolving and changing.
