Fig. 1.1: 100 Plus Grape Flavour |
This was taken from my hometown that I happen to take a picture of it. It was in the picture when I was taking the scenery of the town.

Fig. 1.3: KFC Billboard |
|
Fig. 1.4: Billboard 2 |
The 3 above pictures are right outside my apartment and it is really far, so the images are not clear but I can make out some of the billboard. I don't know what is the first billboard is advertising but it has some buildings on it while the second billboard is about KFC's value bowl. The last 2 are two different advertisement, on the left is about pest control while the right is about Smart Master.

Fig. 1.10: Starbucks Billboard |
All of the pictures above are from campus. They are all food advertisement.
So I thought about making a carton or juice boxes as buildings and make a little town.
Miss Sherry looked at it and said that it looked interesting.

Fig. 2.2: Building Concept |
|
Fig. 2.3: Town Draft |
After that Ms Anis advice that I make it more interesting by making a orange flavour apple and an apple flavour orange instead of the fruit carton town while Ms Sherry liked the idea of the town and that I can buy a carton and stick some of my drawing on it to make it looked like a house.
My final decision is making the strange flavoured fruits.
|
Fig. 3: Ms Anis's Advice |
She suggested me to draw the composition as a still life drawing.
|
Fig. 4: Draft Fruit Basket |
This is the sketch of the composition and the strange fruits. There is a bundle of strawberry grapes, some orange watermelon, apple pomegranate, lemon kiwi and watermelon lemon.
|
Fig. 5: Line |
I started to draw on a new paper and redraw the composition and fruits without the labels.
|
Fig. 6.1: Base Colour
|
I use watercolour for the background and paint it as a fabric. Most the the still life I draw in Foundation were on a piece of cloth and coloured the base with pencil colour.
|
Fig. 6.2: Shading |
I then shaded the drawing.
|
Fig. 7: Final |
I change the lemon watermelon into lime melon because if I use yellow and and orange shade it will be orange melon, I don't want to have more oranges.
I use pencil colour to fill up some white spaces in the background and use the contrast colour of the fruits to make the outlines.
FEEDBACK
Week 13: Ms Sherry likes my idea of the carton house and I could get a carton to make it like the foundation students did.
Week 14: Ms Anis said that the carton idea could be better. I showed her the reference of the 100 plus billboard and because of the grape flavour, Ms Anis suggest that I come up with a fruit with different flavour. Instead of an apple being an apple and make it an orange then an orange an apple.
